April 23rd -Townships Weather
I figured I'd go back to the Pine Knot general store, to see if Earl and the gang could do me a short-term forecast from a place where the loons gossip and Earl swears he can smell rain three days out. Here's your Wednesday-to-Monday Township Weather Outlook – Porch-Sittin’ Edition for the 23rd of April compliments of Earl, Daisy, Harold, and the gang
Well butter my biscuits and tap the maple trees—Spring has finally kicked in the screen door and hollered, “I’m here!” From where I’m sittin’—right at the wobbly table next to the cracked fly-swatter—I can hear the tree buds poppin' like popcorn on a stovetop. The woodpeckers are tappin' out Morse code on the hydro poles, the loons are singin' their sad country ballads, and by the looks of things, the grass is growin' faster than Daisy’s grandkids on freezie day.
But now don’t get too cozy in your lawn chair just yet. As the ol’ timers down here at Pine Knot say, “April’s got a sweet side and a slap side.” And we might be in for a little of both.
Tonight:
Clearer than Earl’s conscience after confession. The stars’ll be out in full force and it’ll dip down to a brisk +2°C, so if you're plantin’ anything tender, tuck it in tight.
Thursday:
The day starts off alright, maybe just a misty smooch here and there, but come afternoon—look out. Clouds’ll start marchin’ in like they own the place, and if the sun’s still showin’ off, you might hear the sky growl a bit. That’s right, first rumble-thunder special of the season’s on the menu. High hits +13°C, with that spring sizzle in the air.
Friday:
We’ll be sittin’ in that awkward in-between place, like when Daisy’s got one pie in the oven and one still cooling. Mostly cloudy with a few sun peeks, but warm—a comfy +16°C if you’re out cleanin’ the gutters or hollerin’ at the crows.
Friday Night into Saturday:
Here comes the good soakin’! A real roof-thumper movin’ in, and you’ll want to keep the deck furniture tied down as she could blow, too. It’ll be soggy, cool, and a touch miserable with highs stickin’ to around +12°C. Not much porch-sittin’ goin’ on unless you’re wearin’ your first day of fishin' suit.
Sunday:
The forecast’s flakier than Harold’s pie crust—some say the clouds clear early, others say they’re hangin’ around till brunch. Either way, we’ll be wringin’ out and dryin’ off by late day with afternoon sun warmin' the toes and steamin off the puddles. Expect we could see +12c on a chilly northerly breeze!
Monday & Tuesday:
Well now, hold onto your sunhats and get the lemonade ready—next week’s lookin’ downright flirtatious. Temps near +20°C, and spring struttin’ around like it just bought new boots.
That’s the word from Pine Knot General—where the coffee’s burnt, the advice is free, and the forecast is about as accurate as Earl’s fishing stories.
