Townships Weather for Monday, May 5th - Pine Knot General Store edition for Sneaky Hollow

Well, it’s Monday, and after a well-earned Sunday off (Earl swears he didn’t "technically" nap in the rocking chair, while watching Lawrence Welk — he was just “resting his eyes”), the Pine Knot gang is back at it, busy as bees in a clover patch.

Daisy’s bustling around setting up the summer annuals out front, her floppy sunhat bobbing like a dandelion in the breeze. Harold, meanwhile, is struttin’ around like a rooster in a toolbelt, hauling out the planter boxes he’s been hammerin’ away on all winter in his workshop. He’s most proud of the ones shaped like old whiskey barrels and a couple that look suspiciously like repurposed washbasins — “vintage charm,” as he calls it, though Earl muttered something about “junkyard chic” under his breath.

The city folk are rolling up the mountain road to open their cottages, and Harold’s ready to sell every last planter box before they can even say “Where’s the nearest latté?”

Now, about that sunshine. Remember that backwards caterpillar Earl was bragging about — the one that crawled tail-first over his boot back in April and “predicted” a dry, sunny start to May? Well, looks like the poor critter got its wires crossed. We’re headin’ into one of those stubborn old weather patterns, stickier than Aunt Mabel’s rhubarb cobbler on a humid day.

Today: Grab your sunglasses while you can — a tease of sun up north, but clouds are sneakin’ in from the south. High ticklin’ +20°C.

Tuesday: Showers roll in, like a nosy neighbor who doesn’t know when to leave. High +19°C.

Wednesday: Showers and a rumble or two of thunder. Harold swears he can smell a thunderstorm before the radar does. +19°C.

Thursday: Cooler, showery, and downright dreary. High +10°C. Earl calls it “good wood-stacking weather.”

Friday: Yep — more showers. +12°C. Harold says he’s startin’ to wonder if he should sell kayaks instead of planter boxes.

Saturday: Still showery, but milder at +14°C. Daisy’s betting the tulips will survive.

Sunday (Mother’s Day!):

Showers in the morning — because nothing says “Happy Mother’s Day” like dashing to the car with a soggy bouquet. But! There’s a glimmer of hope, we might just see some sun peeking through by afternoon. High near +15°C.

Mother’s Day Bonus Forecast from the Pine Knot Crew:

Earl’s tip: If you forgot to buy a gift, Harold’s got plenty of planter boxes left. Just act like you planned it weeks ago.

Daisy’s advice: A homemade brunch goes a long way, but for heaven’s sake, clean up the kitchen after.

Harold’s reminder: This is not the day to disappear for “just a quick hour of fishing.” Trust him — he learned that the hard way back in ‘96.

Looking way out: Monday and Tuesday of the week after next look like they might deliver the goods — but hey, that’s what we were sayin’ about this coming weekend, so maybe keep the umbrella handy.

The good news? All this cloudy weather is like Mother Nature’s quilt,  no frost this week! That brings us a step closer to "Tomato Gambling Time", when brave gardeners roll the dice and stick those tender seedlings in the ground, hoping they don’t get zapped by a sneaky cold snap.
